A mosser, Edmund Landers built the original house in 1859.
Water came by bucket from the well that stands today directly across from the plaque the Scituate Historical Society provided to designate the Landers house an historic landmark.
Town water and electricity would not be installed until the next century when the Dwyer family, who lived here for seventy-five years, moved in.
Signature of Edmund Landers and seal from an 1891 Mortgage for $245.00.
The property metes and bounds as recorded by the South Scituate Savings Bank in 1891.
Willow Street:
In 1859 the Landers' driveway was a cart path right-of-way south to Willow Street (now Beaver Dam Road) past the Willow Street School House which is now a residence.
Tichnor Place:
In the 1920's new owners purchased about 5 acres of neighboring property which had been used for grazing - part of which is now refered to as the North Field - from Bertha Yeaton. The Dwyers were then able to re-rout the driveway a short distance east to Tichnor Place.
Tilden Road:
In 1988 the Kochmans purchased the property and in 1999 an additional twenty acres bordering to the west, enabling the construction of a driveway to Tilden Road. Fields were expanded, a three stall barn built and the property was named Valley Pasture Farm.
In 2008 about 15 acres of wetland was deeded to the Scituate Conservation Commission and the remaining acreage divided into three parcels. The seven acre parcel including the North Field was purchased by the Detweiler family who share the driveway to Tilden Road.
The name Valley Pasture was adopted from this deed description.
